Stray or domesticated, that's just how some roll. Could be thst they feel safe to eat at your front door, that it's a secure spot and it filled up on most of the squirrel, and left the parts it didn't like. My boy Onyx when he'd catch rats, he always started with the head and left the tails. He always ate everything but the tail, but Uthred would leave the tail and a few innards behind. Tari ate a tail once, we watched her. All black cats. They make the best hunters. Onyx used to bring live prey home to try and teach us to hunt, he'd walk in through the door and drop some poor rat or gecko at our feet with a look of "Well go on then".
