This cat and I

So I'm getting used to the cat. He's pretty sweet except when he attacks my ankle as I walk for no reason.

I'm doing ok with the litter box but I'm still ready struggling with him jumping on the counter. He jumps up and I put him down. We do this over and over. I have to have Sissy take him to her room so I can cook.
I've wiped my counters down 1000 times a day since we got him.

Any tips or I'm I just SOL?

I have a friend who has a spray bottle filled with water that she sprays her cat with when he gets on the counter.

As for the ankle biting that is just your cat being playful

@Jenny1234 I don't mind when he attacks my ankles it's kind of cute but I do worry that I'm going to step on him by accident and I thought about the spray bottle but I wasn't sure if it would come across as me being mean so I didn't ask here lol

@Cigarguy you are so sweet and sensitive! ❤

What worries me most about the cat or any pet being on the counters is if they were going to walk onto the stove and the burner might still be hot.

But I don’t think that a spray bottle is being as mean, as you know, whacking the cat with newspaper. so imo if you need to use the spray bottle with water by all means do it because eventually your cat will get the hang of it.

@Cigarguy if your cat doesn’t have one of these toys, I would recommend that you get it. I think I paid five dollars for it at the dollar store and my cat plays it all day long and all night long. I think it will keep your cat totally entertained.

@Jenny1234 I would never hit the cat. And that is why I put them in my daughter's room when I cook I don't want to risk him burning his feet he is a very nosy cat and thinks he needs to help me do everything I'm doing

@Cigarguy I know you would never hit the cat

@Cigarguy plus the house is still really new for your cat so he’s just exploring and trying to figure out what he can and can’t do

@Jenny1234 and he still has a lot of kitten spunk in him

@Cigarguy don't spray your cat .... it's so mean
