Cat question

What does it mean if my cat is scratching at my bedroom door and when I go to let him in, he runs away and goes downstairs.

His litter box is clean and he has been fed and has fresh water

He most likely wants some attention, to feel included and not shut out of your bedroom. And fears your reaction to his scratching the door. Or he may crave to go outside, if he goes to another door. My two have learned how to communicate clearly to me: to come and get my attention, and then show what they want. But then they are indoor-outdoor cats so it is mostly for me to open a door or a can of food; and the bedroom is never shut on them.
