Today is a big day for me

I become a cat mom at 4pm today. My adoption application went through. They did a virtual home visit, an interview and got good references from my vet.

It’s finally happening!

congratulations

The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for helping a new dog or cat adjust to a new home:
First 3 days
The dog or cat is overwhelmed and adjusting to their new surroundings. They may not want to eat, or they may hide under a table or in their crate. It's important to give them space and time to acclimate.
Next 3 weeks
The dog or cat is starting to feel more comfortable and settle in. They may have figured out their routine and environment. You can gradually introduce them to other family members and pets.
First 3 months
The dog or cat should be comfortable with their new home and family members. They should be relaxed and themselves.

The 3-3-3 rule emphasizes the importance of patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement.

Dogs thrive on routines and familiarity, and need time to adjust to new environments and build trust with their new family.

Cats are nocturnal and sleep for much of the day, so it's recommended to keep them in one room at first.

@pdockal thank you! The lady at the cat rescue went over a lot of stuff with me and said that my baby needs his own space for the first few weeks. So I’ve set everything up for him and he will have his privacy.

one thing ..... toooooo much space isnt good
I have always had rescues (dogs & cats)
cats are a little easier
never had a crate/cage for the cats but wish I did
all the dogs are either create trained when i get them or get create trained

@pdockal I have a cage for him that he came home in. It’s with him in the decompression room and I’ve left the door open for him in case he wants to go inside.
