You'll find that the shorter a cat's hair is, the more hyper the cat is all the time. The length of a cat's hair is a good litmus test for the kind of temperament you can expect from a cat. Even though a longer haired cat may shed, a shorter haired cat sheds just as much hair but it's less noticeable around the house. What IS noticeable however, is the often unsettling behavior exhibited by a short haired cat, compared to a more docile long haired cat.

@SandWitch This is only true as they mature. My long hair was a super hellion her 1st year and 1/2. She has however super mellow in her mature years. I have a short hair ginger tabby that is half her age, 6, that remains exactly as you describe but she is also the most loving of my 3 critters.
