Why do you think my mature cat Meows so loud in the middle of the night? Has anyone ever experienced this before?

In the hours between 1:00AM and 4:00AM my 14 year old female chonky monkey cat Meows so loud like she is crying for help! EVERY NIGHT! So I get up and put her on my bed and show her affection then she is fine sleeping at the foot of my bed. But I wonder is she in pain? Does she have an underlying health problem that's causing her pain like cancer or something?? Or is she just lonely?? And wants some attention?? Anyways it's happening every night and snuggling with her usually calms her down....What do you think? Have you ever experienced the same thing with your cat?

No experience, but is she having trouble making her own way to you? Eyesight going or something. Kitty dementia?

Cats (and dogs) can get a version of dementia as they age. It is quite possible she is lost and disoriented in the dark house. Housebreaking issues, forgetting training etc can show up too. You might try bring her to bed with you or at least making sure she sees you leave so she doesn't wake up from a nap alone. Our old gal had similar issues for a few years before her passing.

Probably just lonely and wanting attention from my experience. I had cats for a long time. But if it's something new, it could be something else.

Cats are nocturnal. But I'd say she's in heat if she's doing that. Has she been spayed?

@swandfriends But she's 14 so if that was all then OP would be used to it..

Has she reached the point where she can't jump up on the bed anymore? Does she just need some help?
It means Mine wants to go outside 🤔
If your concerned about your Furbaby's health it would be a good idea for a Vet to have a look at her with a check up.

@NativePortlander1970 Yeah, I'm thinking of doing that too, the check up is $85 bloodwork is $400 and x rays are another $400 I don't have the money yet, I would have to borrow it.
@saintsong Your Vet should have some pamphlets at the front desk that offers pet insurance.
