My cat, who has passed away, did that. He wanted out! Once the screen was shredded I had to replace it with a special KIND of screen made to stand up to cats claws. I had to take the frsme out of the window and have it done by someone who knew how.

Window screen is available that is pet-resistant. I did that in my home because we didn't want 'da kitty tearing it and ending up outside and taking off.
