I have had pets all my life...

but as they age, it gets so sad. πŸ˜₯

We have a 13-year-old beagle named Sissy. She was a rescue pup who had been through 2 owners before us because Beagles love to talk a lot. We love how verbal she is, and we have always sat around and bayed with her. She loves to sing with me when I sing, too. We have had her for almost 11 years, and for the last two years, she has struggled greatly with arthritis in her back hip. πŸ˜₯

Today she has struggled to stand at all, and we have spent the whole day crying. She is just such a tough girl. She had a stroke 2 1/2 years ago and overcame that. Then, when she first got arthritis, she had days she could barely walk, but then it got better for a long timeπŸ™‚

Tonight, she surprised us by getting up and walking about 10 steps. Her appetite is great, and she drinks water when we bring it to her. She is happy.πŸ™‚

Still, I know that both she and our 14-year-old cat(who is blind and deaf) only have a limited amount of time to spend with us now, and it tears me up. The older I get, the harder it is for me to deal with death and aging in my family, pets, and myself. I am reminded of my own mortality, and I guess this is something I still struggle to come to terms with. πŸ˜”

They have little carts for dogs with only 2 front legs, so why not a cart for your little Sissy girl? She will need to walk, even with bad arthritis.
