Does your pet always know when you are taking them to the vet?

A vet mentioned once that animals (especially dogs) can smell death inside and outside of the vets room because of the pets that are euthanised. I don't know how true this is but it makes sense.

My dog knows, but he loves the vet. We’ll get there and he practically drags me to the reception desk.

On the other hand, he also likes having his teeth brushed, and if I use the word “bath” I’d better mean it as he’ll run to the bathroom and jump in the tub, and gets very disappointed if I was only saying it in passing 🤷‍♂
