Do you have a bird for a pet?

We had a Labrador who died a few years back at the age of thirteen. I wasn't keen on getting another dog so my husband came home with Wilbur. He was a baby then, now three years old and has learned many words including now "Hello Sweetie" as well as "Gertcha", no swearwords thankfully.
He loves to fly free for a while but throws a tantrum when he is carried back to his cage.

@jshm2 I think they do too, they are very sociable creatures.
I’m getting more interested in birds now, I think my prior disinterest was from early trauma. My mom raised canaries and cockatoos, and when she removed the cage drapes in the morning, the house was relentlessly cheerful.

I have two! Pistachio and Noel
They’ll go months at a time, putting themselves to bed at a decent hour, and then I’ll have weeks of battling with them for bedtime

@BlueVeins she’s older than Noel. They’re sitting beside me now

@Mairead I think Wilbur is a really cute name! It reminds me of Charlotte’s Web.

If you leave him alone will he eventually go back to his cage with the door open?
Mairead · 36-40, FNew
@Cyclist He climbs around his cage when we try to get back into it. I have never known him to go back on his own. He really loves to be outside of it.
Budgie! 💜
They tend to be very talkative...

Damn, i used to know someone on here who had like 90 of them. This post might make her come back just send you a pic of each one and their naked babies with several weird facts before she vanishes into the ethos again lol.

Iused to have 4, but it did not go well at all.
@Mairead sometimes the bird can be a handful...i have to watch over them especially if the cat is sleeping on the couch with me. the bird will try to bite her. but usually they are ok
@beermeplease I'm pretty sure the cat can handle himself.
@StygianKohlrabi as long as she's not sleeping and he decides to take a cheap shot
