You know... Let me address this...
Everyone talks about how April showers bring May flowers and Mayflowers bring pilgrims-- but no one talks about how March brings Madness
And by madness? I mean chaos in the form of baby bunnies. You know. Those little chaos goblins that are so damn cute, they could get away with murder? As of March 18th, the babies of Sage and Phoenix turned a month old and as of today, they're just over five weeks. How dare they be so chaotic at five weeks?!
One of the twins has proven to be a master escape artist and keeps escaping the current hutch. It's the same twin every time-- and I know this because even though I can't tell them apart, there's only one that's not only willing to leave Saffron's side, but that comes up to me and follows me around like a little duckling. The one that gets out races around, doing figure 8s, but once it notices me? It runs up to say hi and nudge me with its nose. It follows me around until it catches on that I'm gonna put it back. Then it runs off and looks back at me every so often to see if I'm following it. -_- Because it's still small, I have resorted to trapping it under a spring mix container instead of grabbing it off the floor-- incase I grab or press too hard.
One twin has proven to be a thorn in momma Phoenix's side, frustrating her to no end and causing massive tail wagging/bunny whines of frustration. It can hop over the hutch divider and up on the shelf so there's no escape for her.
Saffron is a computer menace. I have videos of her pouncing on my keyboard and making various screens pop up. Stats of my PC health and wellness, screenshot (to which she's taken one or two) and even... Dare I say... MICROSOFT EDGE! Dun dun dunnnn! We're a Firefox family in this Subterranean Rabbit Den, thank you kindly. (I do use Google Chrome on my phone though lol) I have video where she opened Microsoft Edge with a key combo AND took a screenshot because of Print Screen and then attack my mouse. As if she wanted proof of her Microsoft Edge crimes! She also likes to push my mouse off the desk.
They've lost their sleek, satin coats. They've inherited momma Phoenix's double mane lionhead floof! They're SO floofy! They're also all getting the plumes of the lionhead rabbit on their heads. It's easier to see on the twins than it is on Saffron because Saffron is white and the twins are a dark, Sable-patterned Grey. Saffron is developing more dark grey/black spots on her like her daddy, but I highly doubt she will have Sage's full broken black markings.
Sage gets to meet his babies on April 18th, when they hit two months old. They'll be old enough then that they can get away or defend themselves (Though I'll be right there to snatch him up if he starts acting up). Around the same time, one twin is going to be ready for her new home with my friend Caitlyn-- Caitlyn has dubbed her "Popcorn"-- and the other twin may have a home with my step-dad's college age grand daughter who has had bunnies before and is very good with them. I feel confident the other twin that I called Kuromi will be spoiled and live her best life. Saffron, however, is staying with me. If Gigi can't take Kuromi? Kuromi will stay with Saffron and I. I have a new bunny hutch coming in so that when 8 weeks/2 months rolls around, the babies--who will be completely weened by then-- can be moved to their own space and Momma Phoenix can get a break.
Needless to say, as much as I love the babies, Sage Alexander's surgery will be one of my next big priorities-- because we don't need this happening again. Three to Four bunnies is enough for my apartment 😂
As I have a basement level apartment, my apartment had been nicknamed the Subterranean Rabbit Den and the name caught on lol. With Sage, Phoenix AND Saffron (Maybe Kuromi) living their lives out here? It truly is a rabbit den 😂
As always, I'll be attaching photos of the floofs! And one of Momma and Poppa Bunno too.
The March Hares say "Keep Mad and March on!"
The very bottom is momma and Poppa bunno.
