How do you experience a meal while your friend’s dog keeps getting up in your face, begging for food ?

I would expect the friend would remove the dog away from where we are eating.In this situation,I assume that the dog's owner is oblivious to that option,so I might tactfully and cheerfully say something like "Hey,he/she wants to join in - is there something for him/her too?"I If the response was no,they've already eaten,then as I'm a dog lover,I'd probably just put up with it.
