I dug up my cat

Sorry this is so long.
About 5 years ago my Dad passed. At that point I had planned to move to CA near my brother, possibly next door. So thinking that
I will be moving, got me thinking about all my animals in my graveyard and what would happen to them.. My all time prescious cat I loved above all others was my main concern. He passed about 13 years ago. I was devastated, but back to the story. I wanted to take him with me . The only thing I could come up with was to dig him up. So that's what I did. Luckily I think I found almost every bone. So I rinsed his bones and then bleached them. They came out beautifully. To say the least, I didn't move . But I have placed his bones in a small wooden box beside my bed. In the pics are also some of his fur, a few whiskers(. these were from when he was alive), a necklace, a change purse I beaded that resembled him and a pic of him. I also had a clock made with his pic and I made a little art project with him. ( He was deaf and problems walking)

I would love to do this with my bird who passed years ago. But I'm also kind of scared. I don't know how you did it without fear of what you would find. I'm always afraid for some reason but I would love to take my bird with me if there is anything left of him

@Juvia I guess it scares me to just see his bones. But who knows. I think I feel more encouraged after seeing this.
So thank you.
This is beautiful honestly to see how willing you were to take him with you no matter his form.
thats true love.

@Juvia awww thank you. I think if it's been in the ground long enough that there are only the bones left then I would encourage you to do so. Although bird bones are considerably smaller.

@Juvia what do you think you would find?
melissa001 · 56-60, F
@melissa001 did you bury him in a plastic box or a box at all?
Juvia · 22-25, F
@melissa001 I guess bones lol. I remember them as being in all their flesh and feathers, so to see them without is scary. And yet it's what we all become in the end so why be afraid of it.
Birds are so small so he may have decomposed already. However, our cat that passed also was buried a few months ago. So I should be able to take him if anything.

@melissa001 It was a thick cardboard box. Degrades fast anyways. I may be able to get his skull maybe if I'm lucky.
I also buried another one of my birds not long ago. She passed away from gout. So I will definately get her now that I saw someone do it to their own pet. I'm not so afraid of it.😊

@Juvia you might want to look up to see how long it takes for the body to decompose. I would hate for you to dig him up and still see some of his remains.
melissa001 · 56-60, F
@Juvia yeah I was going to say, if they weren't in a container or wrapped in a blanket or something, it might be hard to find all the bones. They tend to move around in the ground after decomposition. But I found my babys head and and teath, basically the whole body. It took about a day to find them all.

@Juvia this might be similar to what you might find. Hope it's doesn't upset you.

@melissa001 I didn't clean it or anything. It's too delicate.
Juvia · 22-25, F
@melissa001 This isn't bad at all then. I might try it in a few days when the weather gets a bit better.
melissa001 · 56-60, F
@Juvia like I said, look it up online to see if your bird had enough time to decompose. If you have any questions you can DM me.

@melissa001 I actually dug up two birds just like an hour ago out of inspiration. And I was lucky enough to get some of the skull. Had I waited any longer I probably would not have had anything to go off of, so thank you😊I'll probably share her later maybe
melissa001 · 56-60, F
@Juvia I'm so glad I inspired you. What will you do with them?
Juvia · 22-25, F
@melissa001 Im going to try to put her skull back together first cause I found the beak but it's not connected. And then I'll put her in a little ornamental box. That way when I move out she can come with. 😊
Sadly couldn't find the other ones because it's been too long but next time a bird passes I'll make sure to bury them in a better area so I can dig them up later.

@Juvia that sounds lovely. I'm glad you're so happy.

I didn't find much of this parakeet but I was surprised anything at all. It's been over a year since I buried her and I'm just happy to get anything. Her bones were so tiny and small. It didn't feel gross like I thought it would or weird at all, just felt like I knew exactly who she was and it was no different.

Imma clean these ones up.
The cockatiel ones are being cleaned.
Makes me wish I had done this sooner.
Super happy I saw your post now instead of later.

@Juvia be careful washing them .use very little soap. I am so happy that you are happy. I feel like I've helped at least one person. 😊
