Update II on my cat

Wildfire has been the most skittish little kitty ever.

Until last night she had been in hiding except to cautiously come out of wherever she was hiding at the moment, to eat.

Late last night, just before I went to bed, I saw movement out of the corner of my eye, and there she was, sitting maybe 6 feet away from me, looking up at me.

I reached for my phone to take a picture of her, and poof! she was gone in a flash.

May fifteen minutes later I heard soft meowing and looked over to see her sitting in the same spot... like 6 feet away and again, looking up at me.

I didn't make a move this time but began talking to her and she sat there, looked at me as I talked to her, and then decided (I guess), she'd had enough peopling for the moment.

Turning to go back in hiding I took the chance and grabbed my phone, called her name, and got her to pause long enough for one bad picture.

It's slow going with Wildfire, but we are getting there.

Take your time. Its really like meeting a friend for the first time. Be slow and gentle and you'll be friends before you know it
Using a high pitched voice works really well
And dont be afraid to give her a treat now and again
Hope you have plenty of things you can play around with her?

@Gangstress I'm leaving the social interactions all up to her. I talk to her when I feed her, and say a few words to her when I walk past where she is hiding, but I'm being patient and not trying to force interactions.

I've got a variety of things for her to play with, but for the first week she was ignoring the toys... starting about five days ago, I woke in the night to sounds of her playing and running about. Now it's an everyday and every night thing.

We are getting there, she is just a skittish kitty who hasn't ever had any positive interactions with people.
