Update II on my cat

Wildfire has been the most skittish little kitty ever.

Until last night she had been in hiding except to cautiously come out of wherever she was hiding at the moment, to eat.

Late last night, just before I went to bed, I saw movement out of the corner of my eye, and there she was, sitting maybe 6 feet away from me, looking up at me.

I reached for my phone to take a picture of her, and poof! she was gone in a flash.

May fifteen minutes later I heard soft meowing and looked over to see her sitting in the same spot... like 6 feet away and again, looking up at me.

I didn't make a move this time but began talking to her and she sat there, looked at me as I talked to her, and then decided (I guess), she'd had enough peopling for the moment.

Turning to go back in hiding I took the chance and grabbed my phone, called her name, and got her to pause long enough for one bad picture.

It's slow going with Wildfire, but we are getting there.

Take your time. Its really like meeting a friend for the first time. Be slow and gentle and you'll be friends before you know it
Using a high pitched voice works really well
And dont be afraid to give her a treat now and again
Hope you have plenty of things you can play around with her?

@Gangstress I'm leaving the social interactions all up to her. I talk to her when I feed her, and say a few words to her when I walk past where she is hiding, but I'm being patient and not trying to force interactions.

I've got a variety of things for her to play with, but for the first week she was ignoring the toys... starting about five days ago, I woke in the night to sounds of her playing and running about. Now it's an everyday and every night thing.

We are getting there, she is just a skittish kitty who hasn't ever had any positive interactions with people.

Glad its working out well

Be patient and just let her come to you, if she's had bad interactions with humans it will take her time to trust you but once she does you'll be her human furever 🐱😊
Ontheroad · M
@spjennifer Yep, that is exactly what I'm doing... letting her decide when she is ready.

@Ontheroad Kitties know when they've landed where they belong, it just takes them a bit of time to accept it 😊

It sounds like you are doing an excellent job of making her feel at home and comfortable. Before you know it, she'll be on your lap all of the time.🐱

She'll come around sooner or later ... and then she'll never leave you alone. 😸
Awww, I'm glad you found each other.

I took a little cat 2 months ago that I found crying alone in the forest... I was going for 3days there feeding her, but no mom was around.. so I finally took it and it's now living in the big yard of the school. Some nights when it's cold shifu no2 (the sweet shifu) is taking her to his room.. So she's half domesticated and half feral in a way... she's very capable running and climbing trees..:)
But she's letting us pet her too.. especially when feeding time's approaching 🤭
I like her too much, I kiss her and smell her every day and talk to her, she's relaxing me and makes me sweet 😊

Aww she’s getting there. Can’t wait to see what she’s snuggled up to you on your lap.

May God bless and watch over the both of you. 💝🙏🙏🙏🙂
Hold out some treats in your hand and slowly reach out to scratch her just behind her ears, I have tamed many cats tht way in the past.

@NativePortlander1970 I willl... when she lets me get close enough to do it.
@Ontheroad Give her time, she will eventually warm up to you.
