My beautiful beast (TW: pet end of life)

My sweet baby dog of 13 years won’t make it much longer. The vet gave us devastating news yesterday and now we’re faced with letting her pass peacefully or having her put down. This is horrible and just came as a surprise to me. I took her in for an annual exam and to see about her losing weight recently and the vet dropped the news like a bomb. It felt numbing and cold and I could think about was this can’t be happening. I’m so sad and angry and just want to make the final days happy for her.

By the way, turkey tail mushroom and Yunnan Baiyao supplements were recommended to alleviate her anemia and fatigue. She seems peaceful and joyful, just very tired and moving slowly.

Sorry about that. My old dog died on his 17th birthday. He was a cairn terrier named Andy. 4 hours later we had a phone call saying a lady had died and her dog needed a home.
We went to the house and found he was a cairn terrier named Andy and he was a yeat old. He came home with us and we have got him 7 years later.

It's heartbreaking.

I lost my dog of 14yrs out of the blue last christmas. There are still reminders of him around the house :(

She would of had a good life, enjoy whatever time you have left with her. 🐶

Having had to make that difficult several times over the years, all I can say is that we all know our pets well enough to judge when it's time to say goodbye. Good luck

I'm very sorry the family is going through this pain. Sending positive thoughts. My little doggie is waiting on the rainbow bridge for her.

So sad, but it happens when they get to such an advanced age.

An old college friend, Ken Dolan-Delvecchio, is a family therapist and author of a book on pet loss. The following might be helpful for you.

@chocolateNcheese I was moved by his words about the love for your pet being yours to keep. ♥️💔

Sorry. I hope you spend as much time with her, every single day. I still miss my cat and it's been plenty of years.

I wanted to say, I like your username, it makes me hungry for chocolate and cheese together for some reason.

@SatanBurger thank you for the kindness

As we love them in life so to wish all of them in their passing. Be glad of the blessings that animals bring to our lives.
Many of us know how you feel, you can feel us out there,

I wondered if the new dog would pine away because he had lost his owner. I think he could tell there had been a dog in our house.
He was upset but he realised he would have to live to help us.

Im so sorry to hear this. Its hard to let a beloved pet go. I have been thru it too.
May her last days with you be comforting and surrounded by those who love her.💐

It's never easy and if you love her, pick the best option for her, not you ....
These are so very hard.
Sorry.

My 2 dogs are sad to hear the news. Oddly my previous Cairn terrier Andy died on his 17th birthday in the morning. About 4 hours later we had a phone call saying a lady had died and her dog wanted a home.
It was quick but we did not want to leave a dog without a home. We went around to the house to find he was a cairn terrier named Andy again. We took him. Our main concern was he could pine away but we got him home and he could tell what had happened. He decided to stay. He was sad for a time about his previous owner but he did not want us sad.
