Our outdoor dog (ar my parents house) is older maybe 16 or so. She recently had a heat stroke.

We've been keeping her in the basement through the day now. She still has a good appetite for food, but not water. She used to love water and drink a lot of it. She has never had seizures before but I saw her have one a few days ago I suppose from the heat. Even though I cooled her off with water and we have been putting her in the basement ever since then she is still not very thirsty at all. The only way she has got liquid in her is from us getting some chicken noodle soup and watering it down. Do you think she will ever want to drink water again? Either way, she is old and has been a little disoriented and different since that seizure so I'm afraid she will probably die within the next couple of weeks or less. My dad doesn't want to bother taking her to the vet because he just feels like they might want to put her to sleep and it's just not worth all the money and effort either

Some people shouldn't have animals

We live in the country. Lots of people in the country have outdoor animals. And she's getting back to normal now. Finally drinking water on her own now

I would if I had the money for it I am currently unemployed because no one will hire me I have applied it so many jobs recently. Plus taking her to the vet is kind of on my parents because it's their house she showed up at 15 years ago. Dad doesn't want to take her, so I'm doing my best to nurse her back up to health myself

She is getting back to normal now. Thank god we thought of the chicken broth. She's finally drinking water on her own
Perhaps it is time.
