second hand travel crate

so i found a travel crate on the side of the road, thinking it was perfect since i needed one for picking up my puppy next week. i’ve soaked it in napisan (antibacterial detergent) and thought that would be ok, but on second thought, i worry it might be carrying other non-bacteria things that could harm my puppy. any advice on how to make sure it is completely safe for the puppy?

1/4 cup bleach to 1 gallon water
Wet completely
Set 5 minutes
Rinse thoroughly while brushing

@Shaveit That's too weak to be truly effective. Bleach to water ratio should be 7% bleach to kill the most germs. It kills 99.99% of of germs. Just rinse well after using solution.

@Pitchblue @Nitedoc this is a good idea! if i do 7% solution will that kill everything that could harm the puppy? i think main concern is the viruses from the road

@ziggyzag The 7% solution is the standard and most effective cleaner and germ cleaner you can readily get. I've used it or seen it used in Chemistry labs, Microbiology labs, Dialysis centers, Medical research labs for more than 25 yrs. It's a well known go-to germ killer because it works so well and is easy to make.

@ziggyzag I should have mentioned that the solution is 9 oz., (8.96 oz.), to a gal. of water. Just half that amount, 4.5 oz., for a half gallon of solution.

@Nitedoc I do stand corrected yes it should be a 1/4 cup to 1 quart.
I had a senior moment
I mix a 1/4 into a 1 quart spray bottle and yield the concentration that it should be

@Shaveit No problem. The correct solution is 9 oz. bleach to a gal. of water. It doesn't have to be very precise measurements. There's some leeway in making the solution.
