second hand travel crate

so i found a travel crate on the side of the road, thinking it was perfect since i needed one for picking up my puppy next week. i’ve soaked it in napisan (antibacterial detergent) and thought that would be ok, but on second thought, i worry it might be carrying other non-bacteria things that could harm my puppy. any advice on how to make sure it is completely safe for the puppy?

I think you've done enough, ideally immersing it in the disinfectant and holding it under for 30 minutes. This is how brewers sterilise their equipment and the conditions for brewing will grow anything so it all has to be sterile.
edit: rinse and dry before use.

1/4 cup bleach to 1 gallon water
Wet completely
Set 5 minutes
Rinse thoroughly while brushing

@ziggyzag I should have mentioned that the solution is 9 oz., (8.96 oz.), to a gal. of water. Just half that amount, 4.5 oz., for a half gallon of solution.

@Nitedoc I do stand corrected yes it should be a 1/4 cup to 1 quart.
I had a senior moment
I mix a 1/4 into a 1 quart spray bottle and yield the concentration that it should be

@Shaveit No problem. The correct solution is 9 oz. bleach to a gal. of water. It doesn't have to be very precise measurements. There's some leeway in making the solution.

Wash it well at the car wash using the wand and rinse it off very well. It will be fine then.

@ziggyzag What kind of material is it made of?

@Nitedoc a sort of water proof ish material but the inside has a layer of fleece
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@ziggyzag If it's water proof-ish it's probably non-porous which won't hold the bleach solution. It should rinse off fine at a high pressure car wash. Fleece is another matter. Skip the bleach completely. Just wash it and rinse it very well. Then let it sun/air dry. The high pressure wand at a car wash works very well for this.
The anyibacterial soap might have somthing toxic for a puppy in it.

@Missadventurous i thought this yes. it’s such a nice crate and looks pretty much brand new but don’t want to take any risks
