I Went To A Pet Store To Buy Canary Seed Yesterday…

The Pet store sells birds and a lot of types of bird seed, sometimes they have rabbits for sale too. What I found interesting is that they now sell chicken feed, had a couple of stacks of it next to the bird room. There was a man asking about it and the price. A bag of this chicken food was over About $34. The man was standing there trying to think if he should buy and eventually did. A person has to really love their chickens to pay that kind of money to buy food for them. Depending on how many chickens a person has they can go through that feed pretty quick.

@Majorsite The reason for double yolks is that the laying eggs are getting old and they will double-ovulate and end up with double-yolk eggs. We had laying hens on the farm & sold eggs and my aunt said that it could end up killing them if an egg got stuck in the hen. Never knew any of ours that died. But we rarely had double yolks. I think when the hens got old they ended up as chicken & dumplings etc.

My neighbours all had chooks in their backyards when I was a kid. The nose in the mornings was horrendous. But I kind of miss that now...

@Thevy29 Guinea hens are even worse than regular chickens. They make a terrible noise. But if you live in the country and someone tries to come up & prowl around they’ll wake up everyone in the house. They like to roost on top of a building or in a tree and not inside a chicken house. They hear everything that way.
