At Least My Oldest Parakeet, Ike, Didn’t Die…

He stopped eating Friday afternoon and just wanted to sleep all the time. Went 2 days with no food. I put extra vitamins in Smart Water hoping he would take a drink. Didn’t eat anything till sometime Monday. Started talking a bit and tried To play with a toy for a minute. Eating more today. Finally got his sass back asking “What do we get?” when I was cooking. He was less than 24 hours from death if he hadn’t started to eat yesterday

When our parakeet had diarrhea one time we used Kaopectate and that really worked well.

@LadyGrace I think he was just not eating
@cherokeepatti yeah but that's not normal I don't understand that.
@cherokeepatti I made some homemade chili this morning very early. I wasn't getting enough vitamins, myself. Not enough vegetables. I am not one that likes vegetables at all and I wish I did. But that is a big issue with me. So being that I dislike vegetables, I made my chili a little bit different. It turned out really good. I don't like beans so I left those out but I did add green peppers, onions, broccoli, of course lean ground hamburger, and cauliflower. I don't get broccoli and cauliflower in my diet so I added that along with vegetable juice and boy really turned out great. I'm also using that for my diet. I made a huge pot of it that will last me quite a long time. I did put some chili powder in there as well. And a little garlic.

@LadyGrace I like veggies but have to be so careful with broccoli and cauliflower because they will bloat me up. I can’t imagine what that combo would do. I have some green powdered veggie drink that I need to start taking, that will help plus it helps to alkalize
@cherokeepatti 🤣😂🤣 well I ate some and it didn't bother my stomach one bit and, it did not even give me gas. Hahaha my poor body needs those vegetables. When I lived at home my mom was very strict about eating vegetables. Too strict. I would eat everything she made except for maybe like spinach or peas which I hated, but no matter what, I had to sit there and stuff them down and it didn't matter if I wanted to throw up or not, I still had to eat them and that went on for years her forcing me to eat vegetables and I swore the day I left that house that I would never eat another vegetable. I do eat them but I'm not crazy about green beans and I cannot eat corn, but I will never eat peas again and I do like the organic baby spinach leaves that I sometimes cook with eggs and those are delicious but from the can, no way. Sometimes although rare, I will drink V8 juice with low sodium, but not that crazy about it really and I would rather eat fresh vegetables. I do love corn but I can't have it because of my colon. I really wish I liked that green drink you talked about. I just can't bring myself to drink that stuff it tastes nasty to me.

@LadyGrace I was Ok with broccoli and cauliflower up until a year ago. It hurts to eat them now. I can have 3 bites of broccoli and don’t even want to think about cauliflower now. I like cooked baby spinach, peas, sweet potatoes, zucchini and butternut squash. Need to start eating okra, it’s supposed to be very good for digestion. I found two bottles of dry okra powder today at the discount store and am going to use some of that on my food
@cherokeepatti yes I imagine that broccoli and cauliflower are not that good for me to eat but I've got to have some kind of vegetables. I don't know I'm going to have to look into that more because I'm not sure they're so good for your digestive system but at least they didn't bother me.

I didn't know you could get okra in powdered form. Yes I do like organic baby spinach leaves but you can't eat too much spinach or it does give you kidney stones. I love sweet potatoes and zucchini but I've got to find a low-cal recipe for those. I don't think I've ever had butternut squash, but I have had eggplant at a restaurant and I do love that but not sure how to fix it at home. I'm going to have to look that up. I sure wish I liked that green drink you have. I don't have any discount stores here where I can buy powdered stuff like that okra. I do like bean sprouts in a salad.

@LadyGrace I looked on Amazon and can buy okra powder by the pound. They use it to season food in India. It has a number of health benefits. They say it can help
Prevent spina bifida in developing babies
@cherokeepatti I did buy some burdock root capsules today. It has 102 minerals in it and I read where chronic diseases come on us because we lack the minerals in our diet. I know that's not the only reason but I do believe that. I think we get something maybe like 10 haha and miss out on all the rest so I thought I would try that.
@cherokeepatti I appreciate that information. I will try that. Yes I am certain it is very beneficial. I did have some okra at the Chinese restaurant one time. It wasn't bad at all. Sort of tasted like corn to me.
@cherokeepatti Reishi mushrooms are good for us, too. And Shataki.

@LadyGrace I have a tea blend with Reishi in it, used to get it at the big Viet Nam store in OKC for $1.99 a box and people would buy a dozen or more boxes if they found it stocked. I hadn’t seen it in several years and found it at another Asian store in south OKC and got a box.
