I couldn’t imagine not living on a farm

the only thing I ever wanted as a kid was to live in a giant city, or a really rich suburban area, surrounded by people, just like in the movies. But then I got older and realized how crazy it is that some people have never pet a cow, or a baby goat, how some people don’t have yards full of tons of random birds, or that some people don’t just wake up to sound of mourning doves cooing, like some people really don’t have yards full of chipmunks and bunnies, or deer, and that is so weird to me, some people actually go to petting zoos and don’t just have them in a pasture behind their house?? I never thought I’d be happy to be living in a house that’s over 100 years old with animals everywhere, but you really don’t ever get lonely when you have animals to spend time with all the time every single day.

[center]There's a certain charm in all things country. Old timbers, rich with tales of bygone days.
The creak and squeak of floorboards, drawn and lain by hand.
The smell of kerosene heaters on cold mornings; fresh cow's milk in a pantry.
Transom windows, floors with stove pipes, plumbing that rattles and hums.

Sunbeams bent through 100 year plate glass, whose panes have long since bowed.
Peace of crickets, and beasts of the field, among whom you're never alone.

Once, I walked a city. Roamed its restless streets and byways; called them my own.
But in the fields and meadows found a comfort and fellowship, I'd never known.

@SethGreene531 That was poetic. I liked it. Totally saving this for city slickers when they ask why i don't like the city.
@ShadowWolf LOL thank you much, happy you could relate!
