It serves no purpose whatsoever. It feeds on itself and all the sympathizers just make them wallow in it further.

The key word here is constant, we all go through phases of self pity, but when it turns someone into an emotional vampire that just drains every happy thought from you it is crippling.

There is one users who posts her abuse story every few months. It is a sad and horrific story .... but every few months for the past 5 years is just unhealthy. Have they not heard of pinning post?

There's a few things that I personally find less attractive. Like if it was a choice between someone who has constant self pity or someone who believes some people are beneath them so they go out of their way to treat them like shit, I'd choose the former. But it's an absolute shit choice for sure.
