Too many dogs and cats are given up for adoption and do not get adopted. They are then fed and cared for while humans are suffering from hunger and all due to idiots that think they can raise and care for a cute little puppy or kitten then tire of it or do not have the intelligence to do so. I trapped twenty seven feral cats in my backyard in one summer that people had just let go wild. Leash laws for cats need to be enforced as "ABC reports researchers estimate cats have contributed to the extinction of 63 species, including 40 bird species. When combining the introduction of rodents, “cats are major agents of extinction, collectively being listed as casual factors in 44 percent of modern bird, mammal and reptile species extinctions,” Doherty wrote, according to ABC." Dogs that are given up for adoption are often pit bulls and many people think and will say that they only get dangerous die to the way they are raised which has proven to be a total misconception as those dogs that often seem docile have killed many children, other pets and injured the same and adults too with out warning. Best that animals turned in for adoption be euthanized immediately and the money that would have been spent caring for them donated to helping people that need it.

@acpguy Agreed. Feral cats are a scourge in my area too. I also captured a couple dozen one year. They kill birds, spread disease and crap on my lawn furniture.
I have a neighbor who thinks she's doing a wonderful thing by feeding these cats. She must hate birds.
The idiot mayor in Chicago is bring in feral cats to deal with the terrible rat problem. Not sure which one is worst. Maybe just a new mayor.

@acpguy If any of the animals I adopted had been euthanized before I met them, my world would have been a very sad place. I believe your pet can be your soulmate. It’s also important to mention that many shelters are supported through donations, volunteers, and foster homes. This is a passion that people have and consider it an investment. Feral and dangerous populations are a people issue…not animal issue. Fine a person or euthanize THEM for not taking care of their animal.

@Pinkstarburst If they had been euthanized before you met them then it would have been impossible to miss them. As far as animals "dangerous populations are a people issue…not animal issue" you are totally wrong about that. Two stray cats not neutered can reproduce exponentially, breeding pit bulls is a also an animal issue as they can turn mean no matter how they are raised. Try looking at coyotes, rats and other vermin they are not a people issue they will reproduce no matter how many we seem to kill. Do you let your cats loose outdoors? Many people do and they are not neutered and when they get outdoors they are an "animal issue".

@acpguy Sorry but I disagree. People are nature’s true pests and disease on the planet. You will not convince me that your opinion is the correct one.

@Pinkstarburst That's fine, typical of a unbalance mentally troubled person who I will not waste my time on.
