I soaked in the last day of October by hanging out with my oldest on a Saturday, something we haven’t done in I don’t know how long.
There were so many highlights as we did something as simple as grocery shop together.
He waited patiently as I picked out individual flowers for an autumn bouquet, and shook his head as I saw clearanced mums as we were walking back to the truck. I waved him on as I was about to cave knowing good and well I already had three at home. That didn’t stop me though as I made the journey back inside to a register with one of the mums placed on my hip like it was a toddler being picked up from daycare.
But this kid…okay, at 26 he’s not a kid, but still. This kid bought me lunch at one of our favorite places and the gesture alone was so 🥰. We talked about his new girl, as well as how badly I thought he needed a haircut. Then we shared reels with each other that we had been collecting, just waiting for a moment to find us together.
The food though. 🤤
Never in my life did I picture myself as the chick who stashed to-go fajitas in her purse, but boom. I unapologetically leveled up in life, just like that.
On the way out, the fall decor caught my eye and heart. I knew the next day would be November, and it would somehow erase the beauty October naturally brings, so I took a couple of moments to fully take the fall splendor in.
The mum in the middle took my breath away though. I literally gasped when I saw how gorgeous the blooms were.
But then I thought…wait a second.
I waved my hand softly over the seemingly delicate petals. And in that moment I had to vocalize my stupidity just so I could acknowledge it myself and so it could be thoroughly cherished by the oldest.
“Yep. It’s fake.”
I quickly put my phone up and did a walk of shame to the truck 💀😂
Such a good day though 🥰
