Okay, so vibrant red. It’s what I’m “known” for. *But Berry Brown is a very fally color.
Acquaintances have recognized me from the back because the hue is that attached to me. Women compliment me often on the color, and several have asked what I specifically use. It’s a feel-good color for me and the middle school/high school me who had to endure her classmates making fun of her because of the gawd awful hair she couldn’t do anything about.
*I’ll forever have a soft spot for Rave hair spray because it was the only styling tool my dad would afford me…and bless its heart…it tried the best it could.
As I noticed my roots growing out, I wanted to go a different route though. I wanted to get away from the vibrancy and embrace the warmth of my brown more. It’s light and dull brown, but I still wanted a softness to the red that I knew wasn’t going anywhere considering how the color red really sticks to your strands.
I found a berry brown shade that I felt excited about giving a try, and this morning it fully revealed itself.
Okay. So it’s still red. But this is outdoor light hitting it red, which is different than this when the sun hits it.
My hair will always be red unless I have it professionally transitioned…and even then I’ve personally learned the red doesn’t fully disappear. But I love that it’s not as bright as it was. I don’t want bright in this season. I want subdued. With a touch of wine. Maybe I’ve gotten that.
…or maybe I’ll just end up shrugging my shoulders when the sun actually comes out and I can still be spotted a mile away. Who knows. I love it today though and I can’t stop running my fingers through it 🫠
Very beautiful. Men also get made fun of because of their hair. I started balding in my twenties. I would give anything for thick, nice hair. Instead, I cover up my ugliness with a hat as often as possible.
@SleepingWithGhosts Some people truly are unoriginal with their insults. I’m sorry that was a thing. Bald can be incredibly sexy though, much more attractive than choosing to be an asshat at the expense of others.
