Are you mildly autistic?

@SW-User i think so
SW-User
@octoberthesixth You should seek a diagnosis. Corbet would have.

@SW-User it's expensive. i don't have thousands of pounds to spend on it
SW-User
@octoberthesixth Pounds? Are you British, or living there?

Don't you have a public health care system where you can be put on a waiting list? It takes a bit longer but it means you don't have to pay.
SW-User
@octoberthesixth hey, I wanted to comment on your point about it being expensive. I had considered that I may be on the spectrum for quite a while but put off seeking a diagnosis because I had heard the same from various youtubers and other sources, that the process was quite involved. However, when I went to a psychiatrist to address certain mental health concerns I brought it up to my doctor expecting that it would involve a series of tests, questionnaires, interviews, etc., over several appointments that I ultimately wouldn't be able to afford. However, when I asked him he simply pulled up a questionnaire on his computer similar to the AQ test you can find online, had me take it, had a short conversation with me and gave me the diagnosis that day. I think more often the long diagnosis process is for children thought to be on the spectrum but it varies quite a bit from doctor to doctor. In any case, if you believe that a diagnosis or the resulting opportunities for treatment may benefit you in one way or another I'd encourage you to give it a try! In my experience it wasn't as much fuss as all that. I wish you well.

@SW-User The adult diagnosis involves a detailed review of your past, medical history, with parents, people who have known you as a child, teachers, and takes at least months to review the data and make a decision.

Same day diagnosis? lol!

It does not "vary from doctor to doctor", there are medical guidelines they are all bound by.

So unless you visitied a quack back-alley doctor, you did not get a same day diagnosis at all.

I suspect you simply took one of those online self-diagnosis tests yourself, and that's it.

lmao

@SW-User I'm not really sure why you're so in a twist about this considering I replied to this person to encourage them. If it doesn't vary from doctor to doctor then perhaps from country to country. I live in the U.S. and I'm telling you that I recieved a diagnosis the day that I consulted with my doctor about it. If you take issue with the methods of the psychiatrist that I saw then, hey, fair enough. But what reason would I possibly have to lie about my experience? I'm not saying every one will have the same experience but it was MY experience.
SW-User
@SW-User Nobody gets an official same day autism diagnosis lol you're not encouraging anyone by telling them that.

Take a picture of your diagnosis letter and the paperwork and post it for us.
SW-User
@SW-User Are you saying this as someone who has received a diagnosis or as someone who'd heard this from other sources? I didn't receive any paperwork, it was added to my condition list along with my other diagnoses on my patient portal which I'd be happy to share.

And what do you mean "nobody?" Are you implying that you can account for every person who has ever received a diagnosis? Within the community I've heard stories of people who have had to undergo the lengthy process as well as people who had the same experience as me. I just don't understand why you'd be rude about something like this, can we not just be adults and have a conversation without all the slander and passive aggression? Pretty uncool dude
SW-User
@SW-User

note that the Autistic Disorder diagnosis was from the same day as the Depression diagnosis
SW-User
@SW-User A questionnaire similar to the AQ test you can find online, a short conversation with you, and gave you the diagnosis that day?

lol

Your doctor should be in jail.
SW-User
@SW-User there is no standardized evaluation process for diagnosing adults, something that takes only a quick google search to find out. the only part of the process which is standardized is an interview to see whether or not the individual meets the criteria as presented in the DSM-V and *MAY* include interviews with family members/additional testing if the results of the evaluation are inconclusive, same as with any other diagnosis. It's clear that you're more interested in online drama than a level-headed, respectful conversation so I'll wish you the best and see my way out.

@octoberthesixth the point I was trying to make still stands. Your mental well being is an important thing and if there's an opportunity to get the help you need I encourage you to try. In my case seeking help has been one of the best things I could've done! Good luck
SW-User
@SW-User Have fun with your quack diagnosis.
@SW-User She's trolling
SW-User
@thewindupbirdchronicles Not always. You're just upset about yesterday.

lol
@SW-User Nothing to be upset about, miss.
SW-User
@thewindupbirdchronicles Sure sounds like it too.
@SW-User I forgot you have all answers, and some don't match what other wants to see, but take a tone you are right. I forgot that. Let's get back to 101 in human behaviour, all don't have to agree with you.
@SW-User how is misanthropy treating you?
SW-User
@thewindupbirdchronicles Don't cry. Lots of other supposedly smart people made exactly the same error. Have fun in your 101 human behaviour class, you need to pay more attention there.

lol
@SW-User I really don't care upon how you choose to insult, but I do enjoy and will follow any conversation.
