@blackychanx get a second job like a lot of the Walmart workers do just to pay their bills.
@cherokeepatti Noo. I've done similar jobs

@blackychanx You learn stuff about people you never thought about before.
@cherokeepatti This is true

@blackychanx Lonely people go to WM and stand and talk to the greeters for a long time. They will tell you things that they want to get off their chest.
@cherokeepatti Ppl actually do that?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@blackychanx Oh yes they do. I worked as a greeter for 15 months after I retired from another job. I could have written a book with stories about the customers.
@cherokeepatti Really? I didn't know that. The greeter sat my Walmart search the bags and receipts of exiting shoppers. The Greeters are not there for hospitality, they are part of the store's anti-theft program.
@cherokeepatti That is really cool actually.. and maybe you can write a book called "The Greeter"

@blackychanx One man was in his 60’s, I had seen him a few times & he lived less than a mile from the store. One day he walked in & he came to me and said “My daughter is evil” and started telling me how many men she had caused to die. Including the last man she married, he said he was a good decent man & he warned him not to marry her, and she ended up burying him too. Nine men total. And this man was raising his two grandchildren because of her. I told him I understood because I knew someone who’s daughter was evil too. For some reason he knew I would understand.

@quitwhendone Actually hospitality is a huge part of the job, but yeah also to prevent losses. And to keep young children from wandering out of the store without their parents, to report anything such as fights or something like l spills that could cause an accident and a lawsuit, etc.
@cherokeepatti That is a sad story. Poor guy. It's pretty cool that you get to be their temporary therapist.

@blackychanx There was one old woman who would always come to me, I thought she was retired but she wasn’t, she was working at the university. She was living with her daughter & family & would tell me how bad they treated her, no respect. She always told me things.
