I Learned Something From The Selfishness Of Others

Selfishness is a choice.

For some it comes more as an innate mechanism than a deliberate decision but nonetheless it's always a choice.

If you have the cognitive capacity to evaluate a situation and still decide to put yourself first even if that meant hurting someone else, that is a choice.

And no, I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with that.

But some people just need to have some basic common courtesy.

I just hate how people go about their lives never looking back or lend a helping hand but expect to be seen as the victims in the end.

I believe if people stopped having that need for domination, and power and just had a bit of more common courtesy and self control this world would be such a better place.

Next time you choose to be selfish question if it's really worth the stakes and if it is, then don't complain and take responsibility next time you hurt someone you love.

Mental Health or not, selfishness is a choice.

You chose to cut someone off in traffic.
You chose to disrespect your partner.
You chose to choke your wife half to death.
You chose to that asshole at work who only looks after his best interest not the company's.

You choose to let the worse part take over you, because it's easier or pleasurable.. whatever the reason, is truly irrelevant. Point is, if you're going to be selfish at least own up to it instead of letting your inflated ego make excuses in your behalf.

If there's something that makes me cut people in half is truly watching them be selfish and act as if they're not while making excuses for their petty behavior.

We're adults, the least we can do is be honest with ourselves and others around us. Stop wearing these hypocritical masks, especially if you don't know what is it to suffer from mental health.

Be Selfish. If the extent of you being selfish has a negative affect on those around you, that's your decision. But at the end of the day, you feeling fulfilled and genuinely content with yourself is the only thing that matters. People so often misconstrue the definition of selfishness, when it is just that - the prioritizing of one's own happiness whether or not it has a positive or negative effect on the world around them. Most importantly, be shameless in your selfishness, the happiest and truest people are.

well said. too many people want to PLAY the victim yet don't want to expel any blood sweat or tears.

own your actions, if not, I myself should be able to justify and explain away stabbing them. due to whatever bullshit reason.

@lovingdead Yes indeed.

If I don't quite understand why people don't take responsibility for their actions. It irks me and makes me want to choke them half the time. :)
