how do you react to people who are not understanding of you, but they're to the point and abrupt

especially online or in real life too...you post about a difficult situation and they answer in an unsympathetic abrupt - to the point- manner?

how do you handle people like that? especially when you're looking for understanding from people

If they go away when I ignore them I leave it alone. Otherwise I show them what rude is really like.
