@whowasthatmaskedman thats probably not gonna go over to well with the american folks on here....i like many of them who are on here.
Tumbleweed · F
@beermeplease It was rather rude and thank you :)
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@beermeplease As do I.. But they also vastly overrepresent the rude and ignorant among us. Feel free to state your case if you disagree.😷
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Tumbleweed I am happy to apologize to the many perfectly nice Americans here. My comment was aimed specifically at the minority who are deliberately aggressive and rude in a way that is almost totally American in nature, I am sure we can all identify a few..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman your original message was tacky and disrespectful. i'm sure they represent most of the friendly users too because of their population base
Tumbleweed · F
@whowasthatmaskedman well ok then, I get that

@whowasthatmaskedman
Well, your comment was rude so maybe it just isn't the Americans?

@beermeplease Again, I accept your comments... I was singling out those Americans who distinguish themselves by there ill manners and ignorance in a way almost no one else does.. It includes the worst superiority and exceptionalism in a way no one else does. Claiming that they can say anything becvause of where they were born. The poster was complaining specifically about this rude type. 😷
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Justmeraeagain But was it rude? I identified rude people and said that the worst of them tend to be from one location, certainly. I have not nominated any one and I have been at pains to say it is a minority of that group. All in resonable grammar..😷
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@whowasthatmaskedman
I think you know it was rude.
But, you're going to defend it so end of conversation. 😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Where are you from ? It's a fact that Americans get ragged on more than others here.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@kodiac Yes. It is.. Partly because as has been pointed out, there are more of them. Partly because of the leadership/role modela they have in public (no names mentioned) And partly because some are more outspoken and personally insulting than people from other countries. And i will lay that squarely at the feet of Trump, for attacking the person, when he has no actual facts to support his case against a critic...
And in Answer to the first part. Melbourne, Australia. And Yes. I have visited America and I have a network of friends and colleagues there..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Well you're right in some ways, there are more Americans if all of them left this site would disappear. So are your friends and colleagues rude yo you ? Why is your response not rude? A person posts about being treated rudely and your automatic response is to blame Americas .As for leadership it wasn't Americans that created internment camps for people with covid ,or arrested children for not wearing masks . Australia had the most draconian rules during covid .
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@kodiac To me, rudeness consists of personal attack and insult. Invective or foul language, or similar. so No. I no. My friends and associates are not rude to me or each other..Since the post you refer to was dealing with rudeness experienced I do feel justified in identifying Americans as a group as the worst offenders. Not all Americans and I was quick to point that out and apologise. But some do attack the person when defending their cause with facts fails them in a way almosr specific to Americans.
Lets take your covid reference as a case in point. You make factual claims and draw from that an opinion. But you didnt refer to me in an insulting manner and thats fair. Now I will reply that while true , those measures had broad community acceptance, with very few exceptions. (There were a few 'sovereign citizens") But in the washout, America lost close to ten times the population per capita than my nation did and the hospitals, while overloaded, coped far better with the sick that those in America. So maybe we were not wrong?
See? We can disagree. Without being rude..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman So being passive aggressive is ok ? Provide proof that Americans are the worst as a group. It's like you're saying oh you may not be rude but your countrymen are the rudest people. Judging an entire country by the actions of a few may not be rude to you but it's unfair at the very least. As for covid of course the us had more deaths simply because there are far more Americans. So you believe locking people who were sick away was the right course of action? Have you visited the US? Without fail most foreign people who visited the Us will tell you Americans are friendly and hospitable.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@kodiac OK. I was at some pains to point out I have visited America and do maintain relationships there. And I agree with you. Americans I met are among the most welcoming and open hearted people I have known. I have mentioned this on many occasions. As for "passive aggressive" . Sure. I will wear that. Its also called standing your ground..And in my case my opinions are based on numbers. So its not me pushing you back. Its the numbers. In the case of Covid, America lost a larger portion of its population than almost any other country. So whatever America did was not working. As for previous pandemics in history, quaratine was always the first line of defence. And that is what my country did and enforced it, until there were vaccines. I dont have a problem with that..
But the initial point we seem to be in conflict over is American rudeness. I stand by my point. That Americans have access through their upbringing and culture to a particular level of rudeness beyond almost any other nationality and SOME OF THEM practice it here. Those Americans, not all, are responsible for the worst rudeness on this site..😷
