Can you do anything without somebody trying to tell you how to do it their way?

My ex was that way and his family too. I’d be slicing a tomato and they’d tell me every time I was doing it wrong because it wasn’t their way. I’ve never seen anyone outside of that family do it that way and it took longer too.
