I find this question interesting and iv pondered it before.

Genereally when people ask that question thyre not reffering to biology. So because its a stereotype the ideology changes with every generation.

Just like how alot of people assume a man has to be interested in mechanics. But cars were invented in 1886. Would that then mean there were no men before that time?

I think we just hear that because that was more prominent in our fathers era and some of us learned what a man is supposed to be from them and carry on that idea.

Or when someone asks you to do something daring they might say "are you going to be a man about it" insinuating they want you to handle it in a masculine way most likley consisting of bravery or honor.

So i think the real question is, what do YOU concider to be a man and what do you expect from others? Do people around you fit the description you have, or do you need to change your defenition for people to meet those standards?
