Not in any sort of order:

1. A lot of the chart material of the time.
It was far more varied than it has been for a long time now, and whilst much of it was not exactly brilliant musicianship, it was inventive and bands were bands by definition. I.e. the members, who usually wrote their own material, played their own instruments. They were not merely singing troupes backed by synthesised or sampled tracks.

2. "Prog[ressive] Rock". A very broad genre, but some of it admittedly rather lost its way in very complicated displays of musicianship and arcane lyrics. I probably "discovered" Rhythmn-and-Blues not much later; not the manufactured supermarket pop called "R-&-B", but the fairly heavy, 12-bar blues based rock.

3. Folk, though not until my late-teens and early-twenties.
I was not though, a great fan of the folk-influenced American singers like Bob Dylan, whom we were all supposed to revere so much.

My teens were mid-1960s - early-1970s
