Do people generally suck?

I've found that if you're below average in most any regard and if people know they can get away with it they will be mean to you, mock you, ridicule you.
It just seems like bullying is human nature, with a few exceptions.

I think people who have low self esteem and poor boundaries unfortunately have their work cut out for them because non-problematic people tend to avoid people who have a lot of issues going on ( whatever is causing the low self-esteem ) and bullies predatorily give extra attention to vulnerable people who struggle to stick up for themselves. This results in a shortage of positive experiences and an increase in shitty ones.
