I tend to get possessive at the sight of someone touching what's mine

am I rude by being like this?

I am guessing that in early childhood You had peers, maybe at daycare, a sibling, cousin, or even another child in your neighborhood during playdates at home or the park/playground, took toys away from You that You were playing with, other children are selfish and want what they don't have and take them away one way or another. I have a strong feeling that this happened to You, which strengthened your sense of possessions, You don't like others taking what is yours.

@NativePortlander1970 Where I live, kids who took other kids' toys were branded as thieves and beaten up by the kids they stole from, and quite rightly so.
@MaryDreamilton Same back in my day as well, but then when I was a toddler Sesame Street was stressing that we must share, which the bully kids at day care interpreted as "take away".

@NativePortlander1970 Where I come from we don't turn the other cheek, nor do we forgive and forget. We give as much back, and we especially love giving bullies a large dose of their own medicine.
