What do u think of straight pride?

Sure its the majority of people but in the name of inclusivity straight people need to be celebrated too.
White pride similarly has a place if the change from supremacy be made to inclusivity. Even belief in your own superiority is ideal. The use of superiority to eradicate the lesser is not helpful and deminishes the improvement all humans can make to the condition of humanity. Further doesnt such violence disprove the assumption of superiority. Equality and inclusion should be upheld.

Like similar arguments to the point you made, it’s a little bit off the mark because since white, heteronormative culture is the predominant culture it’s already celebrated. It’s in the vast majority of our movie plot lines TV show plot lines, book plot lines., it’s the primary focus of discussing relationships in school. It’s the primary focus of research across to be hard and soft sciences. Straight PTA and straight sexuality is pretty socially acceptable in most places. The majority of marriage advertisements are heterosexual..

Taking that into consideration, what more celebration do we need exactly?

Fair, but I think that has to do with peoples’ increased awareness of economic instability and uncertainty for a prosperous future, not a lack of self-esteem @exchrist
exchrist · 31-35
@WhateverWorks certainly it is a mulyifaceted issue. Housing food costs and healthcare weigh in heavily too

Well…. All I can say is that of the many people I know anecdotally, the reason they chose not to have children or not have more children had to do with money, not because they weren’t mingling with enough other straight people @exchrist

I hate how detached from reality everyones opinions are these days.
exchrist · 31-35
@Selah i think in different perspectives i think straight pride while redundant might lead to a mating season. We are producing fewer children so not the worst idea. not superiority. Inclusivity. Maybe just an excuse to drink and party!
@Selah It’s surreal, seriously. 😞

I'd be perfectly fine w shit like straight pride & white supremacy if they weren't thinly-veiled euphemisms for homophobia & white supremacism. Honestly I think part of the reason why conservatism is so strong is because deep down, a lot of these idiots are jealous of the cultural movements that various oppressed groups have created to advocate for themselves.

I don't care if someone is proud of being straight; people can be proud of whatever they want.

The problem is that "straight pride" is just a reaction to LGBT pride and isn't genuine. It's in bad faith.

I honestly have no need to celebrate anyone's sexuallity. It simply is not something worth celebrating.
It’s an ignorant position to take, since heterosexuality has never been considered anything but the norm. It’s never been demonized, made illegal or classified as a mental illness by any mainstream culture or societal group. An assertion of pride is unnecessary about something of which one’s never been made to feel ashamed.

@bijouxbroussard those are wise words. Perhaps the straight feel less included now? In which case celebrating oneself cant be so bad. Just an excuse to drink party and celebrate.
@exchrist Then just have a party to celebrate being alive. You’re not obligated to call it anything.

@bijouxbroussard thats a better idea

No, no, no.
None of us require celebration.
Let it go.

Do you REALLY think any one is celebrating LGBTQ, black, white, Latino, gay, just because a small group demands attention? They are all a pain in the ass.

Or.... or, people can just live their lives and not shove their orientation in other's faces no matter what it is.

People can feel proud to be whatever they want or are. I don't care nor feel the need to have some type of celebration for me being straight.
