@NativePortlander1970 Of course they were. I believe they lean toward autistic. Extremely high-functioning autistic to where they can focus on something that interests them really, really well. We have friends, they have a boy who is now in his late twenties. When he was in school he learned to code. He created online games & was making huge amounts of money in high school. I think in 10th grade $60,000 a year, maybe more. I don’t know how much total then. His parents were wanting him to go to college. He wasn’t happy & got depressed. Eventually they let him drop out for his mental health. He got a bunch of computer monitors, and started buying things from penny auctions online. He had his computers set up in his room where he could watch them all at once and do the bidding. He was buying these things and reselling and making money hand over fist. He is still doing it and maybe creating games too. Makes so much money he is buying expensive cars. His sister is a lawyer and he bought her a Mercedes too. Lives in Florida now.
@cherokeepatti Please do not start with the autism thing, it is a very horrible condition that has been 'jacked to justify bad parenting and kids that misbehave..
@NativePortlander1970 There are different degrees of it. And not everyone misbehaves. I believe my mother had high functioning autism. Elements of her personality. She spoke in a very business like way and had an expansive vocabulary. Tested out of almost everything in business school & graduated in 9 months. Her first job was in D.C. working for the Social Security Administration. When Pearl Harbor happened she quit her job and joined the women’s army. Her first assignment was an aide-de-camp to a general. She was sent with him every where he went in the Pacific theater. The last place was in the Philippines and eventually she caught malaria and almost died with a fever. It damaged her nervous system severely and she was medicated the rest of her life and unable to work. My grandma said she had set a record on her military entrance exam.
