What would you say is 'nerdy'?

I am studying towards a doctorate in mathematics, not the usual 'female' pursuit in life I know.

Sounds perfectly "female" to me. "Nerdy", to me, seems to be a word used by people to describe people smarter than themselves who don't always find the social fads of the day interesting. Nerds make the world run.

Nothing wrong with being nerdy and that's a great direction to head in education-wise. I love math! I tutored Grade 12 calculus in my mid 20s.

If that's where you interest lies I wouldn't call it nerdy. I guess what you do with your mathematical skills are what will determine if people label you a nerd.

@MrAverage1965 I am hoping to either find work at CERN or with the European Space Agency
MrAverage1965 · 61-69, M
@Alicia23 CERN would probably be considered more nerdy

There were and still are a lot of brilliant female mathematicians around. So go and join them! I don't consider that to be 'not female'.

Tell me something about your preferred and fascinating mathematical principle.
