I Am a Computer Geek

I don't like throwing out perfectly functioning electronics and often try to keep them running as long as I can. Unfortunately my old Gateway finally died (a bunch of capacitors popped on the motherboard) after 12 years of constant use. I can't really be mad about that since I generally don't turn my PCs off for months at a time and with that kind of use I think it's more than made for the initial cost and all the time I spent repairing it and maintaining it. Kinda of sad to see it go since I learned quite a bit with that old machine.

I went the home-brew route for years and years and sill have bunches and bunches of "stuff" in the back of the basement.

I think it's now time for me to throw Microsoft and Windows onto that junk pile and go back to home brews and more reliable software.
