I Am An Introvert

I'm a shy and asocial introvert who also happens to struggle with social anxiety. Last month, my high school classmates organized a reunion party at a cafe, but I denied because I hate going to public places. Later, I learned that after having coffee, they went for movies and then some went to the pub and it was rowdy. Thank God I denied it in the first place.

Introvert doesn't mean 'asocial'. But it means you need to take time to rest after gone into 'public events'. By the way, you can pic out your events carefully (going t the movies can be allright, a pub or coffebar also, but not with to many people or too loud music).

Introvery come in gradations. One third to half of the people is introvert, but that deosn't mean you need to be a loner. Our society is build in extroversy, materialism and egocentrism (thanks to the neoliberal dogma). What society can learn from introverts is to take rest and contemplation at certain times. Yu know, they call it mindfullness these days, but that style of living goes way back to the time of Lao Tzu in China and the Buddha in India. But you have to know Albert Einstein and Dr. Seuss were introverts as well... 馃槈

Check out this TED-talk by Susan Cain. She also wrote some good books about introversy...
