How did indigenous people move big boulders ? nad place smaller rocks on top?

Various methods were used in the construction of ancient megalithic sites,but we're still not certain of how such precision was achieved.It seems to me that the younger dryas event or some other cataclysm wiped out said civilizations and that the exact technology used was lost.
