Why do modern humans treat “kids” as idiots?
My grandpa was born in 1936. He told me that he had a job at 12. He was working on a farm and done school. When I was 12, I was treated like an idiot and people tried to prevent me from exploring who I was.
I used to be active on a site called Sodahead around that age, and I was just getting into Satanism. I had all the old folk on my post saying my parents shouldn’t let me read the Satanic Bible and that I’m too young to make these choices.
I was born in 1996.
So in a span of 60 years, children went from being trusted to have careers to being treated like imbeciles. Why?
I have younger cousins and a sibling under 10.
I speak to them like adults. I don’t change my language or refuse to talk about certain things.
If I use a word they don’t understand, I explain what that word means. If I talk about a concept they don’t understand, I tell them about it.
I truly don’t believe children are as stupid as we like to think they are. I know at 12 I wasn’t as dumb as the adults wanted me to believe I was.
