People are getting more paranoid and less smart. [I Think People Can Be Real Idiots]

The day before yesterday, I was in a Kroger’s grocery store. I saw a fat white middle-aged man, not wearing a mask, but with a gun holstered at his belt.

Today, I was in a Wegman’s grocery store. I saw a slender Black woman wearing a mask, and with a gun holstered at her belt.

I’m not sure what I think about all of this. If it was up to me, nobody would carry a gun in any grocery store. But the woman at Wegman’s busted the stereotypes about the kind of people who do.

In Ohio in is illegal to carry, open or concealed, in a place that sells alchohol. That includes besides bars nearly every grocery store, convenience store and most pharmacies.

It has been reported that in 2020 nearly 5 million Americans have bought a firearm for the first time. I support their right to bear arms but worry that only a small percentage of the newbies has taken a firearm safety class. I wonder how many have gone to a firing range to become proficient in handling their weapon.

@jim44444 To be clear, I am not against the purchase or ownership of guns. I just don’t think they belong in places like grocery stores. If people want to hunt or do target practice - have at it.

It’s just that there’s a time and a place for everything.

@SmartKat total agreement. I know you are not anti-gun.

@SmartKat totally disagree. It is where it is needed most to save lives. Seconds count where police are many minutes away.

@MasterLee We will just have to agree to disagree, I guess.
