I Can Appreciate A Gentleman With Good Manners
Stefano's uncle Francesco, Frankie, was one of those real characters. He went against the grain but he was purely a gentleman! It seems strange to listen to the stories told about him and then him come into the room, the two didn't seem possible in one man.
The times when uncle Frankie helped my sister and I with something, he was just a lovely man helping two Montenegrin girls in a land they found quite complex. He didn't speak Montenegrin, he didn't speak English, every thing was in Sicilian but you knew what he meant. He was painstaking.
Frankie would take us to breakfast when he was in town. He would collect us and bring us home. It was like having Dad with us in a different man! It really is tragic that he has lost his life, and we will never again witness his knowing kindliness.
