I Believe Good Manners Is Not Old Fashioned

Am I the only person left, who longs for the return of the good old fashioned handwritten letter? The personal touch of a handwritten letter, be it a love letter or letter of condolence, is so much more effective than an email or type written letter.

As somebody, who as a teenager and into his 20s, used to be very easily tongue tied and developed a slight stammer in more romantic face to face conversations, I found the hand written letter a good way to say, but still in a personal way, what I could never say face to face.

I used to cherish that the handwritten love letters I received had been handled by my girlfriend; that in writing it her hand had been all over the paper and that it had the distinctive smell of her perfume. It gives you a real connection to the writer.

I miss the nostalgia of handwritten letters of any kind. I have them saved. From friends. From old loves. I rarely peruse them. Usually on long, rainy days when I am sad and thoughtful, both. I thank you for valuing them. I am smiling now.
