I Believe Good Manners Is Not Old Fashioned

Lack of consideration for others is endemic these days and it is so sad. It depends where you live, but basic manners are essential for society, and so many around now have an arrogant "me first" attitude.

my parents brought me up to have good manners, yes , please , thank you, bad manners only resulted in one thing. At senior school had to have good manners when in school uniform, opening doors for other people, giving up seats on bus, if you got reported for not having good manners it was an appointment withe head. Grandson aged 6, has to ask Please thank you etc.

My main gripe is moblie phones in restaurants, people sit down and out comes mobile, and waiting staff have to come a second/ third time to take orders

Could not agree more and particularly 'phones in public places!

I know train commuting can bring out the worst in people but I see some shocking adult behaviours which sets a terrible example to our school age friends using the trains in term time.
