@PoetryNEmotion The experience. Generally the food quality is higher and the portions smaller. I like when both men and women dress up for a nice occasion to look their best. Also, hopefully the wait staff and the overall ambiance is better as well.

Often a great chef impresses you with the sauces. Food can melt in your mouth like a little food orgasm. That’s always impressive (as an example).

Comparatively, family style restaurants are noisier too. There can be children being more boisterous than I’d prefer while I’m paying to have a quiet dinner with my wife. Noise kills ambiance in many instances. Also, average food has become very expensive over the last few years. It’s nothing for an unimpressive dinner for two to be $150. I’d rather pay a bit more for a much better experience and better food quality.
