Is an "empath" a real thing?

I feel I am one, honestly.

It's funny the kind of people (I'm not referring to you specifically) who will call themselves "an empath" while completely overlooking the awful, selfish things they've done.
@SW-User We are all sinners, we have all done stuff we are ashamed of.
This is NOT a world of perfect people.
So, what is your point?

An empath is not immune to human nature. It's about knowing better, doing better
and it's very hard to be an empath in this concrete world of dogmas and utter DISDAIN for human individuality: Strange people, people who don't fit in any BOX, freaks and empaths. We fall here also.

See where I am going with this?

@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON Although I didn't specify this before, I'm referring to those who claim to be empaths yet choose to hurt others even after having the same harmful action taken on them. Doesn't sound like they "know better" after all. It's funny, and ironic. That would be my point.
@SW-User They are in the narcissistic sociopath psychopath realm.
They are mimics and chameleons.

That's a world of a difference (between an empath and these) and the main part is those who are not capable of empathy (the latter two) they are in a different dimension altogether.
