Dealing with emotional immaturity or - as I like to call it - "emotionally bankruptcy" - is simply exhausting. Many people, myself included, simply respond in kind and turn our emotions off. We become hard and strong...the ones who shoulder the responsibility for everything in our daily lives without any further effort in securing understanding or consideration. We learn to get by on our own.

@Fieldmaster yup. I can still believe in them, but understand I'm obviously not going to help them through it and I can't afford to stay stuck in their destructive patterns and behaviors.
